sunday morning coffee

This is the first time I start the sunday morning chat. Normally my son is up and on the computer before I do in the weekends, but today everybody is still sleeping. It is very quiet, and I have the computer AND a big pot of coffee all to myself.

It has been a very busy week for us, with exams for the children and lots of things happening at my volunteer job, but today will e very relaxed. Brunch with the family, maybe in half an hour or so, when I decide to wake them up. Maybe a walk with the dog, when the weather allows it. It looks gray, though. And a pancake in the school next door in the afternoon.

ow, I hear some movement upstairs. I hope day will let me have some more time to read here.

Good morning Ria and everyone

Busy day for us; church, then I'm going to buy some yarn to make things to sell (a new venture for me!). DH has to work tonight, so I think he's taking two or maybe all three children shopping this afternoon before that. I will go now and crochet before church, and then perhaps some this afternoon too!

Overcast and cool here today...slightly above freezing so some light freezing rain and some wind will blow it around. It's going to drop below freezing over the next few days, but looks sunny with it. It's been mild overnight so our little bit of snow accumulation has disappeared again. This time of year we usually have had lots of snow and a storm or two.

Good morning everyone. This is the first time I'm joining in the Sunday morning coffee. I usually read them, but don't respond. I can't say that I'm the first one up, since the cats usually wake me up for breakfast, but I am the first human awake on Sunday. I've been working on an Aran knit cardigan for two months now- small Christmas present projects slowed it's progress. I'mt on the last sleeve - half of it done, and hope to finish that today and get it blocked. Of course, I've already started another sweater in lavender cashmere. This is the third time I'm knitting this yarn into a sweater. I haven't been please withend result of the last two/ Afterward laundry, take the dog to the dog park, and go to work for a bit. Now is just my R&R time. Have a great day. Nanci

Good Sunday morning

I have to admit that this is very early for me to be posting on a Sunday as DH and I usually sleep in on Sunday's.

Today is cool but not snowing here so we are off to have a nice Sunday Brunch and then maybe some shopping after that.

Take care Darlene in Toronto

Hello, Ria (and everyone else). I an not too sure about this morning. Yesterday, as I mentioned, we catered a brunch for 120 ladies. Then I had to do recycling. I have not eaten (or drunk) anything since then. My stomach feels dreadful, and I have not been too far from a bathroom since I came home. I knitted one mini sock last night, in between trips to the bathroom, and went to bed shortly after 10. I didn't get up until almost 9, and am still feeling queasy. I hope that this gets better later today! I'll be heading to church soon, but I don't know if I'll go out for lunch afterwards or not. I am thinking *not*, but if Kandace wants to, I'll go with her and have a cup of chamomile tea and some dry toast, although even the thought of that is causing flip-flops. Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday morning.

It is a little before 0900 here. We had RAIN last night, glorious RAIN! It sneaked up gently, so the early drops had an opportunity to soak into the soil and soften it a little for the downpour that came around 0300. The ground is wet, eaves are dripping, and for the first time in months the few leaves still sticking to trees aren't coated with grayish-red dust. The temp is about 45F, but that didn't stop me from going out barefoot to get the paper - which was happily ensconced in a double raincoat in the middle of what remains of my front lawn.

I did NOT scour the Circumnavigated yesterday and won't now until this wet weather passes. I do have a vest on the needles from Cheryl Oberle's _Folk Vests_. The pattern calls for LaLana wool, but I'm using Kureyon. The knitting is fast, but there is a lot of Martyr Stitch (seed stitch) in the borders, which are picked up and knitted on. I'm not looking foward to the borders, but I think I'll enjoy the vest when I get it finished.

Still waiting: mates for three socks - I hate singletons and I have

*no* idea why I've let these three languish the way I have. I need to force myself to leave the vest at home and work on socks when I'm out and about. Spinning, always spinning. If it stays humid without raining maybe I can finish processing my Gotland fleece on the drum carder. With all the 20% humidity during the past several months it has been too dry to card, even with a spray bottle of spinning "oil" to hand.

Oh Katherine, I hope you're feeling better soon. And surely Kandace can eat at home today & let her Nanny get better? This is the earliest I've been up all week (worked until 3am last week) but tomorrow I go in for 8AM, so I have to make sure I stay up all day, so I can get to sleep tonight:>)

I finished Maggie's sweater & now it is laying on my cutting board drying. I washed the 2 sweaters I had made for myself at the same time, so they are also drying. Not sure that washing them all together was a good idea, but time will tell:>)

Well, off to start my day & read some more mail:>)

Ewww, Katherine... I hope you aren't getting that horrid flu! That's what I felt like too... just the thought of food was turning my stomach most of the time, and didn't spend much time too far from the washroom. :o/ Good luck to you, I hope that isn't what it is though!

As for my Sunday morning. I was up fairly early (feeling not to bad today, even the aches and pains are bearable), so I swept the floors and then sat down to read the groups.. since I wasn't online all day yesterday. We *had* some snow yesterday, but most of it is gone today... at least from the sidewalks, roads, and the parking lot next door... the grass and roofs still have snow covering them though. The cloud coverage moved off and the sun is shining brightly. Although the sky isn't clear blue... it's a little hazy/whitish over the blue, but still... it's sunny and bright, so I'm not complaining! :o)

I rearranged the study yesterday to put the loveseat under the side window where I wanted it. It's much roomier that way... making lots of space to have Matthew bring up boxes and bags from the rec-room so I can go through them at my leisure while he's working, and leaving him with an empty rec-room to make into his private apartment. If he doesn't bring anything upstairs for me, I will go down and bring some up myself during the week while he's working... slowly, and nothing too terribly heavy. At the moment he has his girlfriend downstairs, so I'm not even going to ask him to do anything.

Heading out to the pantry and fridge in a couple of minutes to see what I can find to cook up. Don't know if I'll bother with anything too elaborate... or just have some cheese and crackers and wait for supper for an actual cooked meal.

Anyway, signing off now. I'll likely be back tomorrow or Tuesday.

Gem>> This is the first time I start the sunday morning chat.

Well! Good afternoon, Ria, and I'm both happy to see YOU, AND that you started the Sunday AM coffee klatsche! Things are still very very busy for me, as I posted that I wouldn't be 'here' much for a little bit, but I simply could not resist having a late cuppa java with ya'll! It's raining HARD here in middle Tennessee, thunder boomed enough earlier to scare me, and some lightning in the area was enough to flicker the lights. I planned on having Don take some pictures today, but... oh well, there's always another day! :D Hugs, Noreen

Hi everybody. The weather has cooled off a bit here, but no rain yet. This is our 96 day of dryness. If this continues, by Friday we will have set a new record.....did have a lot of wind this past week though and it was enough to push out a lot of the dust and smog. The sky is a clear bright blue. I brought a knitting book outside and lay on the swing to look through it. Has a section in the back where they took some of the old Workbasket patterns and gave them a new updated

*look*. LOL I sure hope I didn't look like that in the 60s or 70s LOL There is a cute pullover pattern with an interesting cable and rib trim/border that I have marked the page for. That is, as soon as I finish the sweater I'm working on now. Have the back and half the front finished, plan on hopefully finishing the front today while we watch the football playoffs. Oh boy Katherine, I sure hope you didn't get that horrid flu that I had last month....will keep my fingers crossed that you feel better real soon. Marie and the cats

Thanks, Christine. No vomiting - I just don't do that. But the tummy is still telling me that it is not ready for food. I ate the dry toast, and that was enough.

Thanks, Trish. Evil Kandace still wanted to go out for lunch. So she had pancakes and chicken wings, while I stuck to the dry toast. I am not hungry at all, which is a good thing, as I don't think I could eat much. Maybe later.

Well, you've been busy, Gem! I have to go to school tonight to do up substitute plans for tomorrow. I have a workshop, and I had intended to do the plans yesterday, but just felt too rotten. I just may do a couple of extra, just in case this drags on. I have a headache along with it, so maybe a day off - with NOTHING to do - will be good for me.

Higs, Katherine. (not commenting about food yet. Yuck! )
