Tool for Pying Yarn

Does anyone know where I can get a tool that will ply 2 yarns into one. A demonstrator at the Toronto Creative Needlecraft show a couple of years ago had one that looked like a ball winder but actually plyed

2 yarns into one. Can anyone tell me where I might buy one? Thanks Barb

Well, there's always a spindle. You're probably talking about a fringe twister though...

Spinning wheel would do the job.....(smiling) Look in a good knitting magazine, or a spinning and weaving magazine. You are correct a while ago they were a hot thing. These things come and go.

When I was a little girl we used two people to twist the yarns, one on one side and the other person on the other end, each twisting the yarn in opposite directions. When you thought you had enough extra twist in the yarn, you would take a pair of scissors, put a cotton loop through one of the eyes. Slide the loop onto one end of your twisted yarn, not letting go of the twist. Stand on a balcony and let the scissors slide by weight down to the middle of the twisted yarn. You and your twisting partner stand close together and bring the two ends together and voila you have twisted a yarn. Most likely not very practical if you have to do lots of it tought.

Good luck with finding one. I will look in my magazine to see if they are still available. A google search me help as well
