Two fair isle steek making methods

Ok I don't know if I can say this properly, actually that's why I'm writing this, because I CAN"T say it properly....there are knitted steeks and another kind of steek that you wind the yarn (to be cut) around the needle, and then when you're done with the garment, you cut the yarn, and end up with lots and lots of ends to weave in. I'm trying to explain this wound method to a friend who lives quite a distance away, and a picture's worth a thousand words ......I have searched the internet for a picture of this "Wound" method......to no avail...I've googled my heart out on this one!!!!! ..I think Alice Starmore wrote about this method....Anyway, do any of you know of a picture of this, you master searchers, rulers of the web....i'm counting on you......HELP!!!!!! Many thanks....Maggs, madly knitting in the arizona desert

The "wound" method is just YOs or backward loop cast on loops thrown up onto the right-hand needle. Most of my sources say a knitted steek is more secure, plus when you cut it it won't leave *as many* ends.

I can't even say "steek" without a trembling in my tummy. The thought of taking scissors to something I have worked on for ages just makes me ill. Good luck with your search.

Have *you* ever steeked, Noreen? The mother of a friend of mine is from Norway, and I have seen her do it, but I still can't do it myself. "Rumble"??? More like vomit!

My personal favorite used to be *barf*, until the infamous dinner with the Chinese government muckamuckas. Now lots of folks in my circle call it "doing the bush".

About Changing names i was born with one Marion, but everybody calls me Mirjam , And all my Official papers are Marion , sometimes i have to remember they call my name ,, now some papers are Marion [mirjam ] But none of this is my choice ,,, in 1950 , when we came to Israel , the Kibboets people said Marion wasn`t Hebrew Enough ,,, thus they decided to call me Mirjam, which wasn`t so good for my mother who lost her sister one of whom was called Mirjam.... Some of My Dutch family continued to call me Marion . If you ask me which i prffer , i don`t know , whatever people like to call me. mirjam marion
