Hi everyone, maybe someone else may have some input on this for me.
I have warped up a 4shaft floor loom with rug string, 4EPI and 39ins wide.
I have a large Border Leicester, with a staple of between 3 and 4inches. Which I've washed and combed into long rovings. Using 1part baby oil to
3parts water in a mister to stop static flyaways.I have spun and plyed some of the fleece rovings to a UK Double knit thickness. and so far have woven one and a half inches of plain tabby weave, then pulling the roving to give me the staple length of 3ins I've knotted these every other string all the way along the width leaving the two floating selvs free. Then I did four picks(rows for the non weaver) of tabby or plain weave and started my next lot of knotted fleece tufts, this time using every other string but this time the strings inbetween the ones I knotted last time, so first time I knotted 1,3,5,7, and this time 2,4,6,8, if you see what I mean. This will be sandwiched by te 4picks of tabby .
I don't know if I'm meant to knot every other string or every third string, it looks ok, and obviously I will have to trim the length of the fleece when the rug is finished.
However if anyone has ever done this and knows of a different way, or has a better way, please say so...lol
cheers.....Cher
