RE: Another Newsgroup Question

Hi Guys, OK -- am using Thunderbird to post this. I got the stuff done that Jeri told me to do and managed to find the little tab to click to show only unread messages. Now for the next problem. I am on the old computer -- the newer one having gone to the Dr. Unfortunately, DH has been trying to get the newer one up and running properly for -- oh -- about the last three weeks! The problem is that Netscape on this 'puter will not use the sig line I tell it to use. It shows some odd non-words, very short, but in that computer Greek crap. Here's the problem -- T-bird has apparently used Netscape to get settings or something so when I click on the "write" tab for a new post, I am given this screen and about two pages of weird symbols and that non-Greek stuff that I have to delete. I have tried going to Netscape and getting rid of the sig line command but I can't find where to do that. Does anyone know if there is somewhere here on T-bird that will let me do a new sig line??? Like I said, the techies know how to do all this stuff so they must assume that the rest of the world knows! They need some serious help in the interpersonal communication arena!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

OK -- more problems. DH downloaded Thunderbird onto the laptop but it doesn't give us the sidebar that shows newsgroups! It has folders and AOL mail but nothing even remotely related to newsgroups. VBS -- see why I get so damned frustrated?? To make matters worse, he

*thought* he put AOL onto the laptop but he just accessed it through IE and made sure I had an icon on the screen to click. But doing it that way only gives me access to my e-mail AND I have to sign in every time. I have no favourite places, no tool bar that I am used to, no way to listen to the radio while I go visit other sites, etc. I want the AOL 9.1 that I am used to but he says he doesn't know how to get it! I asked him if he could copy all the AOL stuff on this computer to a flash drive and then install it on the laptop so that is what he will try tomorrow. As for T-bird, I have no clue why it is OK on this computer but not on the laptop. DH downloaded it just the way that Jeri recommended. Does anyone have any ideas about that? OH -- and thanks again Jeri for all the help. Now, if I can just get rid of the gobbledygook from the screwed up sig line, I'd be sort of happy -- LOLOLOL. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

In Google search bar type in "AOL 9.1 download" without the quotation marks. AOL Download will come up in the list. Click on it and follow the instructions to download AOL 9.1 to the computer. Of course this should be done on the laptop which does not have AOL. Hope this helps.

Well, DUH -- that's just too obvious for MOI -- LOLOL. Never even thought about doing that -- looking for the durned thing in Google! WE shall give that a try and pray to someone that it works!! Is there a parton sait of electronics, I wonder?? I tried to use Thunderbird and all I get when I click on the desktop icon is the post I sent just before this one! VBS -- now do you all understand why I DO NOT LIKE to start using new programs. Nothing is EVER easy, there are always pitfalls that just make me screaming angry because I know it will be easy to fix whatever is making me mad but I have no clue as to how to do it. I have to keep posting here pestering everyone. Oh well, I'm liable to end up with no way to access the group except for Google and won't THAT be fun!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
