But I'm back. My comp crashed and I lost everything!! boo hoo. I think its been 4 or 5 weeks. I have a new one now and am trying to get to grips with Vista. DSIL sought one out for me and I made him promise that I could still find RCTQ. And voila, here I am and feeling so much better now I am back with you lovely folks. I wonder what I have missed. Hope not too much sadness and a lot of happy dances! Estelle UK
Oh what rotten luck Estelle. Wondered where you were, but time goes so quickly it didn't feel like a month! I'm desperately hoping nothing will happen to mine until Windows 7 is well into its stride. I do not want to tangle with Vista - not that I will know the difference I'm sure! It will all be a steep learning curve I daresay. . In message , EstelleUK writes
Well, Estelle. How nice to see you back with us. We have been fairly well-behaved. You did miss my nagging everybody to get a silly-looking little thumb drive and back up their favorites. I don't reckon I need to remind you to do that, do I? Polly
Welcome back - it much be something going around. My hard drive died suddenlty and completely. I lost everything, but was able to have a new drive installed so I wouldn't have to make the move to Vista. Still trying to reinstall things I didn't remember I had until I need them.

Waiting for Windows 7 to come out in the fall to see if t hat's a improvement.

Welcome back from Purgatory! Few things more aggravating than having to re-create a system. As Linda said, it's totally amazing how much stuff you use a lot, but don't think about it until it's not there.
Vista should be better now than it was a while ago. My computer died about two weeks after XP disappeared from retailers' shelves. Nothing I had then ran with it, so I had them "downgrade" to XP. MUCH trickier than one would think, and it never was stable. At least Vista is mature now, and the new Windows is on the horizon. I gave up and went Mac (and run XP on its own partition. Pretty cool.) That was sort of wrenching after over 22 years (!!) of Windows.

Don't let them fool you. They talked about you incessantly behind your back. I, course, did not participate in any of that sort of thing. Fortunately all of those posting were deleted by general consent. Welcome back.
John! Go find your wife and ask her to explain pay-back to you. I think you need to know. Polly

I didn't start it. I was only passing on what Polly and R/Sandy said about Estelle. Then I realized that it was probably not true, as I know Estelle to be not anything like what they said she was, and started a chain of events to eradicate all those viscous postings. Thankfully I was able to accomplish that and this is the thanks I get. You see what being a nice guy gets you.
Gotta watch those nice guys. I have to say I never pictured Sandy wearing a halo. LOL Taria

We missed you huge! I'm glad you're back. As for Vista, I've had it now for .... couple months. I've had not problems at all. My sons inform me that the problems come when you try to game on it. I don't mean the little games on Popcap or the like, but the big ones like WOW and Halo (can you even run that on a PC?) and Crusades and the others that you play online in real time with other players.
I've no idea J!! My DH's computer was passed onto me when he got his new one (as usual). I expect he has them, as he has XP on his new-ish one also. I'll ask!! . In message , J* writes
Must be the season for crashes. New hard drive, and I'm up and running again. Still finding things I have to install and searching for disks. Linda PATCHogue, NY Queen of Boxtops
