OT: Is it just my computer?

Did the whole look of the site on Google change overnight or is it my computer? I can't call the site up through my fav's list and when I tracked it down the hard way, the url is groups-beta.google and it looks way, way different.

Just wondering, Sunny

Hi Sunny - websites are switching to beta - the new look is sometimes disconcerting when you're not expecting to see the changes. Webshots recently made the switch and some people liked it while others did not. Think of it as "high definition" tv for the computer. On the old page

Yes mine changed too. One thing that is missing is the poster's profile. I used that sometimes.

However, I have the Archives bookmarked twice and on

is still appearing the old way. Very strange.

Most websites that I have seen using the name beta in them are switching from one design and database to another and will run that way for a couple or three months to get all the problems worked out, then the name beta will disappear and it will be back to just groups. google.com that is how Zaar did it Burst and also Fastclick. They all ran in beta for awhile. As far as I know and I may be very wrong on this, but when something is in beta it is in a testing phase.

Sally you want to see an active one, go to alt.support, diabetes and not only will you see one very active but full of flames and wars and just about anything else you can name, and yes occasionally they talk about diabetes. Not worth the headaches to me.

The very reason I quit subscribing to a.s.d - never saw so many contentious argumentative people! Too much of a job to sort out the little bit of good stuff out of all the sniping.

I do not blame you, I only go there when I have to, you know need an answer and no where else to turn, but I also go to chat and we don't have those problems there and so I normally can find someone that knows my answers there. But I do download it about every day. The same goes with the sleep disorders group. I honestly think this is the only group that I have been on that isn't that way, that is moderated. Heck I was on a Clowns for Christ group once and it had just as much fussing on it.

I'm sorry....I just had to laugh out loud with your last sentence! Too funny! There's a picture in my head of bickering Clowns for Christ that is just a hoot! KJ

Well it wasn't fun amidst all the asking for prayer for this and for that, then the bickering. I left that group also, but I am a clown minister and have a clowns for Christ troop although we have not done anything in a couple of years due to my mother's health/death and then me falling down the stairs. Here I am in my clown get up.

How wonderful! Thanks for the pictures, they're great! I hope I didn't offend you by my comments. I just happened to get a kick out of the picture of clowns not playing nice. Just shows you that underneath that makeup, they are still just people with the same flaws as the rest of us. KJ

You may have noticed that I refer to my sewing machine guy as Billy the Clown. That is because he _is_ Billy the Clown. He mostly does charity bits now, though the odd children's party or town picinic still comes his way. He has been to clown college too.
