that apron pattern I mentioned

Ok, so I got the thing figured out and put together (aside from some pockets that I decided to add yesterday). Here's the picture:

I used 5 1/2" blocks. For the ties I cut strips 1 1/2" wide by the width of the fabric. Cut it in half for the tie at the neck. I have a backing on it so the seams won't show. I used the "inside out" method that I described in the potholder thread. I really recommend putting the ties on *after* sewing the backing on if you use the inside out method.

*However*, I also found this pattern on keepsake quilting:

Almost identical but they use bias tape and I either can't or won't do bias tape corners. So, maybe mine isn't vintage but it's cute as heck! I'll try to get a pattern put together on graph paper if anyone wants it.

Now that is just sweet as can be. A thought came to mind while looking at it......

If every mother had an apron that matched the quilt on her bed she could just lay down, being very still to blend right in and the kids would never find you!!

Tamra, that's as cute as can be! I like your monochromatic version better than the Keepsake scrappy one -- but I'm not usually much on scrappy, anyway. ;) When you added pockets, did you make them so they "hide" in the blocks?

Yes, there are are two blue pockets that blend right in with the apron. Since the squares are on point, the opening to the pockets are on the diagonal. I hadn't thought about it before, but it's actually more convenient.

I rock, Tamra

Now THAT'S an idea!! :) (off to figure out the yardage needed - we have a teenager in the house now and the timing couldn't be better!!)

Do you think it would fool hubbies and MILs???
