scrapbook Question-need help

I have downloaded a zip file-its alpha and numerical...BUT all of it is on the same page, not individual ones--how do I get each one off the page? Cropping it would still leave some of the background...so I need help! I appreciate any help!!

If you are using a program with a selection tool just select the number or letter you want and then hit copy and then paste as a new image.

Thank you for your response! I appreciate it! I bought zip files..and downloaded to my "documents" file on my computer, then I "extracted" each one and tried to file them in a folder so I would "sort of" know where each one is...is there another (easier) way? I am not sure of a selection tool---I am just SO new at this!! and am trying to teach myself-- I almost gave up LOL I even had my hubby try to help me--he did help some. :) if there is an easier way, that would be great--because it is time consuming looking at all I have in each document file..--whew! and when I click on the page with the alphabet, tags etc. I get the whole page of images..and don't know how to get just the ones I need. Thanks so much for your help!! and fast response too! SH

Hi Sher did you try organizing the files in sub folders in your Documents file? By alphabetical order, subject, style, color, whatever is easier. I dont know much about digital scrapping yet either..still learning by myself too. :-( I have a long way to go! Good luck!

I made a folder called Scrapbooking and within that folder I made other folders like paper piecing patterns, templates, digital kits, etc. I like keeping everything together in one place.

What graphics program are you using? Do you have something like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop Elements?

In order to use those images and keep the transparency you need to use a graphics program with a selection tool. If you don't have PSP or PE then try The Gimp, it is free and there is a selection tool. You have to install the GTK+2 and the Gimp program. Once it installed open the file with the alphabet sheet. Use the magic wand tool (1st row, 4th tool, looks like a black stick with a yellow light on the end) and click on the letter you want to use to select it. Now from the edit menu chose copy and then chose from the edit menu "paste as new". Do this for each letter or object that you need. You can save the individual letters if you want and be sure to save them with the .png extension. There are also other selection tools (the first 4 in the top row are selection tools) so play around with it.
