Re: Almost finished but need help!

Singing the Blues is now 98% finished - just a few tendrills and bits which I hope to do tonight.

However it somehow needs more crispness/plumpness/fluffing up. With all the handling - quilting round the leaves, embellishment and diagonal quilting where there is no applique - it seems flat. I've been very good about washing hands, so the white is still white!

Is there some magic trick for actually making the presentation look good. Its only a little show in the W.I. tent at the County Show, and it will be hung from the beautiful hanging sleeve, but apparently the judging is pre-show at the Area Offices.

All handy hints gratefully received! (Will take more piccies when its finished).

Very interesting question, Sally. I'm wondering . . . an appliqué should be steam pressed (lightly) *face down* on a soft towel. So should embroidery. That somehow seems to make the appliqué and embroidery appear raised. I don't know how it would work for a quilt display. Wonder where our Pat on Her Hill is? She would know. Polly

I don't know that I do; but thanks for your confidence, Polly! When I have finished all the quilting, and have somehow taken every scrap of fluff off! I will hover the iron over the whole surface, steaming it thoroughly, in the hope that fibres will plump up. I do not touch the surface with the iron, just hover. I haven't tried doing the back - maybe I should? I don't know whether any detectable difference is achieved; maybe I just feel that it has! Looking forward to seeing it, Sally. .
