Emergency trousers!

The bugs are all ironed out now!

I cut a pair of jeans out for the lad yesterday, from a pattern originally used for DH before we were married! Either he was a *LOT* skinnier than I remember, or James is significantly sturdier in build than his dad... As Alan is six feet tall and has a 35" waist, I don't really want James to be that sturdy at this age! HOWEVER!!! The jeans fit perfectly, with a little room for growth. The lad is, after all, built like a brick netty and waves break against him!

I'm just waiting for the zippy-off pattern and then I can get going on those... Meanwhile, I have one T shirt cut and ready to run with, one more pair of cullottes likewise, and the room to turn round into a bedroom for guests again!

I'm out most of today (sewing shopping!), and before I get all poshed up, I need to paint another yard of skirting board and at least one more door frame, and touch up the streaks I found in yesterday's windowsill...

Why is it that boys all seem to grow out of clothes overnight? I've been on a mini sewing spree for DS as well, got a pair of jeans waiting to be washed, 2 PJ tops and 1 bottom mostly done today (I love my overlocker! :-)) and I've got 2 other play bottoms cut out and I've got fabric to make a pair of cargos for him. He needs more tops for winter, but I'll only make 1 this year may head back to the Rivers clearance store to find more shirts. (Rivers is a wonderful clothing store in Aust., their jeans fit me perfectly!)

DS1 seems to only grow upwards, but with a vengeance - his legs look like bits of sting hanging out of his shorts on school sports day! DS2 is a bit more proportional all round. I'll be sewing for them again soon.

Yay! Hit the zip stash this morning: two 26" lightish royal blue separating zips, trowziz for the use of, extracted and ready to roll! NOT navy, but you can't have everything when it's an emergency, and they won't be in full view... The bum pocket may yet get a bright red zip, and that WILL be in full view!

That should of course have read "bits of string" ......

Nothing like a nice bright feature ;)

Sadly, he rejected this idea in favour of boring black! Well, I have a pile of the right size boring black pocket zips, as well as a heap of slightly too big red ones! :D

I never even noticed...

James's legs are very sturdy and muscular: takes after my dad in that respect!

I have the poppers to hammer into the stone trousers and the button place on the jeans.

He wants velcro on the olive drab cargo pockets...

The jeans are done all but the hems and the popper at the waist...

The zippy-offs are cut and the interfacing bits fused... Gotta change threads on the serger again. Nine times in three days ain't bad! :D

I'm having a quick coffee before stuffing a load of bits back in the loft and dragging down the bedding for the friends, and cooking the dinner... Pork casserole for eight, including five hungry ladies post swimming! :D

I cheated and did pork chops in a devilled sauce, but I can post both recipes later if you like...
