[Fwd: Kinda OT: formal wear sewing]

Hi everyone! This is from a friend of mine on the rec.crafts.textiles.quilting newsgroup. Kate and Charlie have probably already seen the message as have a few others. I have told Kellie to join our little newsgroup as we have some very knowledgeable and experienced seamstresses as members. If you can help this wonderful lady out, it would be great...as for me, I am clueless since I haven't worked with tartan or done tarapunto or knotwork.

2 ?s for you....

1) a. How difficult are cumberbunds to sew? b. would using tartan greatly increase the difficulty (ie getting the "set" right in the pleats)?

2) How difficult would it be to embellish a gown bodice with celtic knotwork in trapunto or in ribbonwork... (I can draw the knots, have done trapunto long ago, and have a double needle for ribbonwork....but won't be making the gown)

Best friend is getting married in December and was throwing around some ideas.....

Kellie
