OT: Pantyhose for long legs

My long-legged DD will be visiting her dad in San Franciso in August. She has trouble getting tights (pantyhose) and popsox (knee-highs) here.

Is there a US chain of shops that caters for tall girls? Her dad won't trail round shops with her but he can probably be persuaded to take her to one shop. If there isn't a store in the Bay Area, is there a good mail order source?

Many thanks,

Perhaps I could ask on a Yahoo American sewing group for my sewing machine if you do not get any replies if you want me to as they seem to know where to go for a lot of stuff. Let me know anyway. Liz

Sally,

There is an alt.fashion board with some savvy shoppers there. May I suggest asking your question there as you'll probably get tons of responses! Sorry I'm no better help than my suggestion for alternate posting. But then again, maybe some of the wonderful posters here have some places to acquire these long-legged hose!

Macy's on San Francisco's Union Square should have long tights and knee-highs. The prices are steep but they do have a reasonably good selection.

(I'm in the SF Bay Area. Actually, I live on an island IN the bay!)

Would that be Alameda or environs, TI, or somewhere else?

Personally, I think tights are the work of the devil, and should be banished (along with crepe-backed polyester satin). They make you look/ walk like either Norah Batty or Pingu, and they bring me out in a rash. Bleah!

Please don't ban them. They're the only thing that can keep your legs warm in the winter if you don't wear pants.
