AD and end to a long freaking story....

I have a used (old) laptop and now a used (old) scanner, and both seem to be working well together!!! Bought a new scanner last night at Microcenter in San Jose and took it back the same evening. Lousy pictures. This is an older HP. Worked great, right away upon plugging it in. I am SO RELIEVED. I have an IBM scanner that I dearly love and have been carting around with me from state to state, but IBM hasn't supported it for years now and I can't get the right driver for Windows XP. This scanner is a real blessing in my life.

Take a look and let me know if the picture looks as good on your computer as it does on mine.

Looks great to me - I've had the best luck with HP scanners in general...

Becki, The cloissone beads look great, but both the Chinese aventurine and the butterfly are very blurry, you can't see any details of the carvings at all.

Hi Becki,

The detail on the cloisonne beads came out very well, but the carved beads looks a little murky.

Do you put the lid down on your scanner when you'r doing it? I found I get better results just putting a white box lid over the beads and leaving the scanner lid up.

Cheers, Carla
