For your viewing pleasure, a couple more bead kits auctions and some Very Vintage Flatback Rhinestones, starting at $0.25 !! THANKS, as always! I also hope everyone in here is ok. Me... I've been coping with a recent diagnosis of being a Type II Diabetic and I'm worn out. I'll get the hang of it one of these days... and especially if my insurance company sends me the medicine that I've been waiting 2 weeks for! Ah,bureaucracy . :)))))) Linda Cigarette Free: Nine months, two days, 16 hours, 59 minutes and 25 seconds. That's 9649 cigarettes not smoked, representing a savings of $1,688.71. I've also saved 4 weeks, 5 days, 12 hours, and 5 minutes of my life.

Hi, I'm part of the club. It runs in my family and I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. I remember feeling overwhelmed at first, but it became easier to cope as time went on. Hope your medication arrives soon. Feel free to e-mail off group if you want to chat. Peace, Lilyflower snipped-for-privacy@theworld.com

Dear Shirley... yes, I remember your talking about being diagnosed. My mother and her mother both died from the disease - her mother back in the late 40's and my mom because she refused treatment and then died of a bed sore and stroke. :(

The biggest trouble I'm having is the mental confusion and extreme tiredness/sleepyness. I just DROP and want to PASS OUT a few hours after eating: I guess that's when my blood sugar goes high? I'm still trying to figure out everything... it's so hard to try to read on the computer, so I bought books about diabetes; now I find the 'technical manuals' to be sleep-inducing, too. :) But my new meds came in the post today! Hurrah... now I can experience side effects! lol... And it only took me about 3 weeks and a class at the hospital before I understood what I could and couldn't eat. My son explained my class notes to me very clearly and now I 'get' how to keep track of carbs. You take care, my dear swap mate across the pond. :))))) hugZ, Linda

Hi Linda,

Sorry about your diabetes. I hope things get straightened out and you feel better soon. It runs in my family, so I know I could be next!

Thank you SO MUCH for the offer of chatting about type II diabetes! I try to read in the diabetes newsgroups too, but iI feel uncomfortable posting numerous questions in there when all I have to do is research a little on the web. It would be nice to have a "bitch" partner, tho. :)))))) hugz, Linda

Thanks, Jerry! Yes, I knew it ran in my family, too but I thought that it just started by itself if it was going to happen. See, my old doctors never told me that gaining weight would cause it to come on faster. And between menopause, my depression medication, quitting smoking 9 months ago and now the diabetes drug (which added 7 pounds to me in a month and a half!!)... well, lets just say that I'm about 30 pounds overweight. Moral of the story? DON'T GAIN WEIGHT as you age if Diabetes runs in your family. If you're a little overweight now, start exercising and do whatever it takes to maintain an even weight. I wish someone had told me this a year ago. hugz, Linda

You can bitch with me any time you like. I have my swap bracelet here alongside of me. I have to take it off when I am using my mouse because I do not want to damage it. I wear my watch on my left arm. Shirley

well, sometimes diabetes (DH is type I) comes out of seemingly nowhere too.

I can understand all of these

but that, they ought to make drugs that don't do that!, that shouldn't be that way.

wish you all the best with that. I know that with Type I you ought to (try to) maintain your weight too ... (they are entirely different ballgames though)

hugz back,
