Quilts for Kids Kits

The 3 kits I volunteered to do on Tuesday arrived on Friday.... Pretty quilt shop quality fabric, very colorful, and precut into 6.5" squares, and enough strips to piece into strata to cross-cut and make

15 four-patch blocks for each quilt, plus plenty fabric for the backing. All I have to provide material-wise is the batting.

I'm sewing the three kits together in tandum. I started at 10:30 to piece the strips and now have 45 four-patch blocks ready to assemble with the squares. They go together very fast! My goal is to have the tops pieced together today and finish the quilting by the end of the week. I'll post pictures before I mail them back.

So nice to be at the sewing machine again. Thank you, Taria, for posting the original link

Hi Mickie, Good work on the kits. wonder too, about the kids in Haiti. Our LQS is having a quilt marathon next week. Open on Monday at 9:30, close on Saturday at 5:30. Open 24 hours a day and you can come & go as you please. Machines set up, but can bring your own. Bring as much as you can for fabric & supplies & snacks. This is in conjunction with Salvation Army and all quilts go to Haiti. The hope is in the 300 range, but anything will do. Our neighbors next door are from Haiti. They know one Aunt is dead but have not been able to contact other family members. From the sound of things, Florida will have a lot more Haitians in the near future. Going to work on the quilts in the next week. Anna Belle in Palm Bay
