While digging through my sewing room this afternoon, I found some partially made and some completed nine patches and I can't remember how I made them! It was a really quick method, but not quick if I can't remember how to do it. I've looked around on the 'net, but haven't found any patterns for nine patches that start out with squares instead of strips.
You start out with sewing together two 7 1/2" sized squares of fabric (one light, one dark) along opposite edges. I also found blocks that were some place down the line in the construction process - there were two blocks: one alternating strips of light-dark-light and one alternating strips of dark-light-dark. But, I have no idea how I got from the plain squares to the blocks of alternating strips; and no idea how I got from those blocks to a completed nine patch.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I would love to finish these blocks - the fabric has really cute little penquins and would sure make a pretty quilt top IF I could remember how!
