buying kits

Can anyone recommend a quilt shop that sells kits in the $50-$60 range? I'd like to get someone a gift certificate to a shop, and I'd iike it to be a shop that has a selection of kits. I'm leaning toward the 'fat quarter shop' right now, but thought I'd put the question out there in case anyone had suggestions.

thanks! Lynn

Granted, I am a non-kit kind of person. Last year I bought (at the Tucson Quilt Show) a Dancing Cows kit from Quilter's Market, I don't remember the price but I think it was in the $30 range. It was wonderful! Went together in a day (lap quilt size), quilted in a day, and is currently valued by my favorite sis-in-law somewhat higher than her house. I love Quilter's Market and wouldn't hesitate to buy another kit there if I liked the quilt.

Bought another kit, for an appliqué dragon WH, at about the same price from another store at the quilt show and haven't tackled that one yet. The Dancing Cows kit was complete for the top and borders. The dragon kit claimed to be complete but there was no background fabric. Dancing Cows was very fairly priced for the size, quality of fabric, etc. I do think the dragon kit was a bit overpriced. I suspect one has to be a bit careful buying kits. I have purchased another since, hope to get the dragon and the Reflections done this year.

Sometimes a quilt kit is a good way to get a quilt done fast!

Replying again - I just took a look and two of the kits (Gypsy Market and Garden Jewels) look like ones she'd really like, and in line with her skill level. I think I'm going to just show them to her and tell her to pick one. That was a fast answer to my request. Thanks! :) Lynn

My favorite is an ebay seller - crazy4quilts. If I had the money, I'd buy every quilt she puts together. She is amazing.
