Windham fabrics has hand dyed fabrics being sold in kits for Gee's Bend inspired quilts. The yardage is also available. I was told at the quilt shop today that they skipped a step in the process and that these fabrics MUST MUST MUST be washed carefully and separately (lights with lights and darks with darks isn't even recommended.) before using. I bought some and am now rinsing AND washing these pieces. A heck of a lot of dye ran out with a cold water rinse! So these need to be treated just like you took them out of the dye bath. Although I do wash handdyes, I often do not wash quilt shop fabrics. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone was tempted.
