Looking for hand dyed fabrics....

Mar 11, 2008 6 Replies

I want to attempt the quilt (pinwheel like) that they show on the beginning of Simply Quilts. I have the pattern. It looks like the sewing is the easy part! It's the fabric acquisition and the organization that will be the challenge.

What I will be needing is fabrics in several colors... but in a 7 step gradient. I don't want one piece of fabric that is graduated in color... but 7 different fabrics -- each color somewhat consistant (I know with hand dyes won't be "solid") -- but I think you understand what I mean.

Any ideas for a good online shop to find these all at once. Otherwise I start collecting some here... some there... and it will be quite the challenge to get it done in a timely fashion!

Thanks for your shopping ideas!!

I wonder if Cherry (something) forgotten where I got my suede look fabric from might have some. the "suede" fabric is hand dyed.

Cherrywoods would have exactly what you want. They sell gradations in several steps. You could always dye it yourself! >>>>ducking and running!

I bought some hand-dyed fabric gradations at a quilt show in NJ. The fabrics are luscious!

I posted the link before, here it is again.

Click the link for fabrics 'by color' and you can see a number of gradation sets. It says on the homepage that she even accepts special orders.

Thanks everyone!!! I'll be busy shopping the Internet!!!
