What fond childhood memory does Deer Dancer bring back? I wished my grandmother had not been ashamed of being Indian. I missed out a lot when I was growing up.

< I am not sure if I want to reveal that here right now. :) Please don't regret the past, but instead, live today and work toward your future. You have a wonderful opportunity to learn what you were not taught or shown and maybe by this you will see what your grandmother saw and didn't share with you. Deer Dancer was created to help you with this I believe? When the subconscious reveals something to you, it may be wise to listen and explore. That still voice will guide you and all you have to do is listen.

When a child is alone and cold..., miracles do happen to help them through. Part of my memory. :)

Sadly Harry I have unhappy memories before going to live with my grandparents. It was the late 60s early 70s and my mother didn't want to be a real mother. She was too into drugs and partying.

I was often left alone with my baby sister for days upon days. We are only

18 months apart and I had to learn to take care of her. We were in and out of the state orphanage until Mom could pull it together. At times Nannie & her sister, Aunt Lily, would come and check on us. If we were alone they would take us to their homes, feed us, and give us a warm place to sleep.

Then when I was about 5 I had to decide in court if I wanted to stay with my little sister at the orphanage that I hated or go home with Nannie & Papaw for good. It was so hard knowing that my little sister wasn't coming with me. She was more like my baby than my mother's. However, I knew I would be safe and loved in my grandparents care and I chose to be with them.

Sissy had a worse childhood than I can imagine. I won't go into more details...but I've been there too.

We love you Harry and your happy and safe now.

Thanks Tink...but I had a very stable and happy childhood after leaving Mom. I grew up more stable than I have a right to be, but I'm a very happy girl indeed.

Sometimes it's the rough stuff that happens to us that makes us better people. I won't go into all my childhood crap here, but suffice to say it wasn't pretty. But I really like the person I've become, and I'm CERTAIN that I wouldn't be who I am if I hadn't experienced everything I did.

I find joy in the simplest things, and it really takes a lot to get me down. I'm fiercely loyal to my friends and loved ones, and honest to a fault. Each of these things has a pretty blatant link to things in my past.

I'm glad you made it through ok, and just so you know, you're one of the people I really enjoy knowing online.

Sweetie, you have a right to have the happiest childhood imaginable. Please don't feel that you got more than your share. Every child needs a happy childhood, it's just that some of us get it later in life than others.
