And the Winner is ...

I see what you're both saying, I think.

What I would do, instead of hoping for the KKK to behave differently than they have in the past, would be to hope for conditions to eventually arise in which the KKK and like organizations would cease to exist entirely.

Yes. And that would take effective action on the part of those who want to 'grow' such an environment and such conditions.

Interesting. I like exploring word origins this way... and I like your distinction between the heart and the 'feeling gut', which is usually a more primitive, self-protective response.

Deirdre

Congratulations to you both! I'm glad to hear that this worked out well for you.

I think you're 100% right, but I want to add one more piece to the equation: refusal to give up. You might not get your desired results the first time or even the hundredth time you try, but keep trying - evaluating what went right or wrong each time, and improving as you go.

I could mention a hundred examples of times where I failed, brushed myself off, then took another whack at the pinata. Even though my cause was right all along, it took several (or a lot more than several) tries to make things work.

) for my favorite cousin. She loved it, as did her mother, who immediately tried to swipe it. (which proves that she's my mother's sister)My aunt got an amethyst double stranded necklace, but she wants my cousin's necklace, too. (same URL as above) So tonight, I am using some faceted labradorite rondelles, green swarovskis and a carved jade rose to make a similar faux lariat for my Tante. I'll take photos before sending it off.

I never walk out in to the unknown alone and unaided by knowledge. It's all you have. All the wishful thinking in the world won't get you by, or crossing your fingers. Of course, positive thoughts and feelings and prayer help you to gain spiritual ground, but before I ever do anything, I get as knowledged-up as I can. We rehearsed scenarios for the hearing, but I also do this for other things. I look for pros and cons and holes in my thinking that need to be plugged up. By the time I am ready to take action for what i want I am ready with some answers. That is why I was so scared about the hearing. It didn't fit any of the rules of the law and I had no right to assume that I would win just because I was right and he was wrong. Life is not this simple. Planning, gaining support of many and talking it out with alot of people really helped me when I needed it to, as did all that reading I did on the law. And you know, I am a pretty unsophisticated, straight forward person. Abstract thought and alot of embroidered details, I don't get right away. It takes me alot of time to sort stuff out. I believe in the higher power, but I also believe that you have to do your part, as well. Rainbow

Rainbow,

That's great!

It sounds like the way you went in calmly showed your integrity just as you planned.

This has got to be a great relief.

What kind of buisnesses did you have before? Can you go into buisness for yourself again?

My sister and I are not married, and because our only responsibility untill we took on our mom was our own survival. We have always been open to new ideas, and when something has not one right, readjusted and moved on. We know alot of people that won;t even try new things or different ideas. You just simply can't hang on to what is old. Turn the page, and move on. Even at 53 years old, (54 9.17.03 ) I far outdistance many women my age because I am not afraid to look outsde my own safe yard and do things, I have been that way life long. I am always willing to change something about theway I think if I find a better way. It doesn't make me a hypocrite or flighty and it doesn't mean I run from failure or don;t recognize when something I need to change is apparent ... I running in the direction of something better. I see alot of women I know playing it safe and staying in jobs and situations that don;t work, and that will never be me. I want to stay curious, I want to keep improving my self and my skills and keep moving forward. I got sidetracked on this last job ..... I stayed too long. I will NEVER allow that to happen again ! My 2 businesses ? Jeelry and beadwork for one ... I am not done with it yet. I just have very little to sell right now. I am looking forward to Christmas, but it will be lean. There isn't enough time to catch up with the demand for stock. Secondly, I am a family / children's entertainer what you might call a comedy entertainer... also sidetracked because I couldn't pay my insurance and licensing last month. Problem is resolved financially. I am going to get it back tomorrow. I have done it for 23+ years, and it is unstable at best. I need to have a support job along with it. We are working on some other projects, however to see if we can float ourselves. And you are right, this is a HUGE relief. The last 3 nights in a row, I slept nightmare free, agitation free, stress free. And today I took myself out to lunch alone ... a rare treat ! I was free of what have begun to call the "Sunday Terrors", where I search thru the newspaper for a job, and plan to go everywhere I can on Monday and stress over it all so completely that I work myself up in to nausea and I am too exhausted practically to go anywhere. Horrible ! We are creatively looking in different areas for jobs and refining our search in ways that will keep us out of the heat on useless visits to offices applying for work. It's hard, going out day after day in 110 degree heat, riding all over town on the bus. My blood pressure is Very Low today. I have lost all fear and guilt for now. And I have time to plan and seek out alternatives to right myself .... We know we have to get on with it & resolve this, but we are going to take a little while off and maybe even play tourist. I had no idea how tight I was stretched untill I was holding the check and I let go. ( you shoulda heard me screaming ) Rainbow

I'm hoping this is true, since I am planning to learn to do it...

Deirdre

I believe you will do this very well.
