ARGH!

I had items stored outside, and I thought I had my lampwork supplies pretty covered (a lot of tools got rusted/etc...but probably 90% can be saved). I found out that my Cindy Jenkins book was in it.

Okay, I thought perhaps it could be saved. I was going to let it dry.

Then the tarp that Ken had up collapsed due to a bubble of water on it, and dumped all over the table. Well, now, I have tried to open the book to several pages, and have just succeeded in ripping the pages.

Just to repeat myself, ARGH!!! :-)

Ah, well, get my spacers going again, *then* I can look to get another one! Wonder if Ken would get the hint of a V-day present?

Semi-good news (maybe?). I was joking with him, saying I wanted a lampwork class at Arrow Springs, that it would cost about $180 for the class. He didn't quite freeze, and then I said "oh, well, even if you did, I would have to have like $200 more for bus up there, food, motel room etc". It's about an hour and a half away, and he couldn't drive me up, come back, drive back to get me, drive back, then repeat the next day. But he did say something about if I could find someone who was taking the class who lived in the area...and then let it drop. I wouldn't *hope*, but heck, if I could find someone for a ride, and a place to stay (possibly even a 1 night motel room share)...it's possible! WISHFUL THINKING!!!! :-)

Weeee!!!

Ken hasn't come straight out and said that he would give me the money for the class, but he did say "I have confidence in you that you will be able to make beads". He has asked me questions about how much a higher torch would cost, a kiln, etc, etc. I believe that he will give me the money for the class.

I am hoping that I can find a person who might be going to the class, and might give me a ride, or if they are coming from another direction, might be willing to split a motel room?

right now, it looks like I would have to spend 1 or 2 nights in a motel room at $65 per night, and catch a bus to Sacramento, and then try to figure out how to get to Shingle Springs. with greyhound/etc, it might cost me another $150-200!!!

I would love to try to find a class in Reno, maybe, that Ken could go to play, and I could work, but I doubt it would work out that way.

Ah, wishful thinking.

But if I can do this, this is my steps: get hoses and tank (2, because I will have to switch out when one needs to be refilled) for Hothead. glass Get Kiln

*get torch (Minor?) *get oxygen concentrator or tank *get propane tank *get hoses

starred items not necessarily in that order, but if I find them on the cheap.

I also want to try to get cindy jenkins book again, since mine is waterlogged. Or Corina's book. Whenever I find them.

Okay, I should have been asleep a while ago. Night Night

Mary, the Rasmussen's have moved to Reno, and last I heard they were getting set up to teach classes. Nice, nice couple... And what a glass history they have! Bill was the glassblower at Disneyland for a long, long time.

But here's a thought: For what it would cost you to go to the class you're considering, you could get at least a couple of videos. GOOD videos, of course. I have learned more from my Smircich DVD than you can imagine.

Which Cindy Jenkins book bit the dust?

Get it wet again. Spray bottle. Separate the damp pages with wax paper. Allow to dry. Even better if you can freeze dry it, but that's not easy........

Contact Arrow Springs. Ask them if they would mind giving your name and number to someone else taking the class who is coming from out of town. They the two of you could talk and see if sharing a room might work. You want someone compatible. Ask if they snore! Barbara Dream Master

the hardback one. Making Glass Beads. I also had that little "flyer" one that came with the kit. But I still have a video that Kate sent me...something about "making glass beads out of stained glass remnants" Gotta find it, and watch it again.

I would *love* to get the video, but I think the hands-on would be a little better for me...I understood how to make the stringer, I just couldn't do it, even after Sharon Peterson showed me how at her house. I have to be able to do it.

Heck, I figured out with all that money, I could just fly up there and visit you...but I wouldn't have the money to pay you. LOL!

Okay, so it won't be Arrow Springs (whom I found out the class is April 24th and 25th), but Sundance in Mountain View is holding a class (date not set definite, but he thinks it will be the 13th and 14th of March). Ken is off that weekend, and even if he isn't, I have friends in SJ that I can stay with, and they might give me a ride (or I can take the bus). It's off of Shoreline, so it should be fairly easy! And their class on the website says $195, but he thinks it might go up. But even if it goes even, I will still be saving a *ton* of money...:-)

So I am a little happier, and a little closer to achieving my goal!

Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy with the class. Are you taking beginning or another class? I have learned everything through books and video. I love all my videos, and like Tink, I think James S. is the best video I've ever purchased.

this will be my first class. Wish I had seen your post earlier about the kiln. I think Ken might have been willing, now. But I am excited...this might be coming together!!!
