Kathy N. V.'s house. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.
If I were at her house I wouldnt be able to resist either!!! Diana
Boston has some of the highest prices for beads and beading supplies in the country. You'll find that saving the tax alone buying from the web makes it worth it in many cases.
What exactly are you looking for and where do you live?
There is BeadWorks in Boston and Cambridge. Crystal Blue Beading - Watertown Vintage-Vogue - Ayer Moondance Designs- concord Beauty and the Beads-Winchester BeadCache-Mansfield Roessler Glass-Boston (loose furnace glass) The Pear Tree-Brookline (not sure it's still there) Ancient Moon-Watertown Playtime - Arlington

Good luck - we live in a bead wasteland. Crystal Blue Beads in Watertown is rumored to be very nice and there's a store called World Bead across from Boston City Hospital. Otherwise, there's not an awful lot.
DO NOT listen to the evil hints from people on this group. I have very, very few beads - not nearly enough. :-)
BTW, I never buy beads in person, because I am mostly housebound. I do reasonably well (cough, cough) buying online.

The nice thing about buying online is that you save enough money to pay for a mistake or two. Per purchase.

I think we'd all prefer to buy from a bead store. But it's insane, for the most part. The internet is so much cheaper! Sure, there's nothing more fun than buying where you can run your fingers through the beads -- seeing their colors, wallowing in the sensations.
Not everyone is rich, though. I know I can buy a lot more beads online than I can in my local bead store. So good luck to you. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
But I try to be careful about what I say about bead prices. It's important to support local businesses for many reasons. Including, if we really have to have something right now, we need those bead stores to still be there and in business.

Sometimes I go to the LBS for color matching and buying a few things for something specific. Sometimes 'cause I want Right Now! It bums me out that they are so much more expensive but that hands on shopping, mmmmmmmmm, It's nice when I can do it! I am so bad at just "window shopping" IRL. I just love to buy. Oh, if I would just win the lottery! I'd like to take a road trip and follow some bead shows, check out all the LBS and come home with a bead stash like Kath NV has, LOL!!!
