Wire Guardian Protectors

Granted, I haven't been around in here for quite awhile, so I don't know if anyone had shown these in here before. But it's something new to me so I thought I'd share! :)

You use the protectors in place of using buillion to cover the wire on your clasp, which I always seemed to screw up when I used it anyway... and they come in Silver Plate, Gold Plate and Sterling Silver. Aren't they cool?! This product will definitely add a MUCH more finished look to your jewelry. love, Linda

They look good Linda. I expect it will be a long time before they get this side of the pond. Shirley

I had never seen those before a few days ago but found some while looking for tools...

(more pics on using them). I'm still debating trying them. The item cost there is a fraction of those on ebay but the shipping is higher. :( ... grrr. Of course buying more from FDJTools would make the shipping more reasonable! :)

I have some of these protectors and can't get them to fit. Is the wire to big that I'm using? I usually use .018 or 19 wire. And I didn't know if they came in different sizes or not.

Hi, Donna. :) I don't have any of the protectors (can't afford to buy any). I want to try them as soon as I can though... and it's good to know that you're having a problem with them. As with any new product, I imagine there's a learning curve. I know I had some trouble with crimp bead caps when they first came out - I would squish them too hard and the ends wouldn't line up correctly.

Did you ever get the protector to work when you used smaller wire? Or perhaps a thicker wire would have more substance to shove through? Until I can try them myself, I just don't know. Sorry. :(

Thanks for the link also. They are MUCH cheaper at the link you found, and I found that to be the case with crimp bead caps also. Hope you have better luck and please report back if you still can't get them to work. It makes no sense to have a new product if we can't get it to work. And we'd all like to know where NOT to spend our money. :) love, Linda
