Kathy N-V (wire herringbone weave)

I just noticed your comment in my jewelry gallery about the sodalite earrings:o) They aren't too difficult, but it does take a lot of practice to get the measurements and tension right.

Eni Oken put a tutorial on her site; I learned it firsthand, from a friend, which is *best*, of course, but the tutorial is nicely done, IMHO :o) Oh, and it takes a lot more wire than it looks like, so practice with cheap wire first!! (not like me, who wasted nearly 20ft of silver wire learning it!!)

Kyla,

Thanks for posting that tutorial. Been meaning to ask you if you are on Amitymama.com or Mothering.com discussion boards. I'm Penguintrax in both places, although I'm on Amity more than Mothering.

That's one of the first sites I found when I started looking for more complicated things to try. Most of it isn't my style, and the tutorials are new (like, in the past two weeks, I think), but I did learn a few things there that I've successfully adapted into other useful techniques:o)

that's about what i was thinking, actually.

most of what i've been trying to do, i've been trying to do all with one piece of wire. i think it convinces me that i need to use finer wire on the outside. i did notice that there was nothing about "how to hold on to all those different pieces at once", which is a problem i'm hoping my "third hand" will take care of.

that, and i'm going to a wire class this weekend . . .

most of what she has on that site is also not to my taste, or quite what i'm trying to accomplish, but it did give me a couple of ideas.

thanks!

Yes, I get a lot more work done and beading when I turn off the 'puter. Thing is, I work on one all day long (tech writer), but I've been keeping my laptop turned off during the day once I do the initial check of personal e-mail and stuff.

Do you have any wool covers in stock? I'm in the market - DS is about 18 pounds, so I want them to be around for a while, size-wise.

Actually, I've been wanting to get some wool wraps done for the past week; I keep forgetting my wool at Laura's (Starbunz mama), but I have something like 10 different colors. You can order one through my site (just updated it--only taking orders for covers right now, though); order size Medium, in a wool jersey-that should fit him until about 25lbs (my DD was wearing her med at 27lbs, though!). I'm going to Laura's today to drop off our stockings, and a tree skirt (doing Xmas together this year), so I will get my wool then:o)

Wow, this is WAAAY off topic, LOL! You can email me at the addy below, if you wanted some more info:o)
