If you make it in just the right shade of red, it looks exactly like licorice. :-)
This is probably not the official sanctioned way, but I drop down one row at the end, loop around that thread, the go back up. (probably makes no sense)
Two ways: make the tube long enough that the necklace can go over your head, or narrow the end of the herringbone tube, and use cones/clasps. What I do is add one bead each repeat instead of the two you need to continue for herringbone. Use those single beads to do a few rounds of peyote (not many, just enough to hide in the cone). Then use E-6000 or your favorite toxic glue to put the cone in place.
I've seen some ways of reducing the chain so it has a sort of rounded end, but I haven't seen one yet that I like better than my method of hiding the ends in some nice Bali cones. Don't discount the "over the head" method, either. I've never had anyone find the joining point, and it makes a beautiful chain.
Oh, that is wonderful! I had been wondering how to make tubular herringbone twisted. Your instructions and diagrams are very clear and easy to understand. Many thanks for putting your time into these instructions!
Hi Scaperchick - A recent conversation has also brought out some additional information on making this stitch twist. On step 10 in the instructions, if you pass down through two beads, and then up through 1, and then your step up, your twist should be more pronounced.
