Ow! Hot glass up the nose! - OT

Fired up the torch last night and had a bit of glass pop off in the flame. It went up my nose. Ow. It seriously hurts. LOL! Love the new torch though. TOTAL control!

Ouch! I haven't done that yet. LOL

I love your new work. Thank you for showing it. I think my favorite is the long bead. Love the hollows too.

And for you out there that haven't seen Tink's colorful beads, well I for one can tell you that photos don't even come close.

Ouch - the sacrifices we make for our "art"

This is - of course one thing I like about wearing the "face shield" from Aura Lens I've heard things go "ding" off of it many times.

Since you weren't seriously injured, I am free to tell you that that is the *funniest* and least probable glassworking injury I've ever heard of!

Also, I hope it feels better soon.

If the glass isn't sufficiently warmed and you hold it in the flame to long, it thermal shocks and pops off.

Know this from experience, LOL. But it didn't go up my nose.

On a related note, there's an add from a glass supply place in the newest bead mags and it shows a woman torching and she's not wearing ANY eye protection at all. I'm going to write them, methinks.

LMAO! It hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrts! And some fallout must have struck the outsite of my nose while the body of the Effetre comet was making landfall in the Nostril Caves.

Very attractive, I can tell you.

Thanks, Margie! It's very sensitive today, and I think my nose is a little swollen. I pretty much just took some Ibuprofen and went back to bed. Just got up again. LOL!

There's got to be a bead here somewhere!

Nostril Caves? Tink's nose beads? Nasal comets?

Barb -- probably just for "advertising" if you look on my website - there is a shot of me "lampworking" without my eye protection - but it was for "photo op" purposes only - I always wear protection when I am really working. Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

I've got a nice scorch on my boobular area from popping glass today, and a bit whizzed up and hit my glasses, too. It happens all the time, but I'm ALWAYS wearing my glasses (the big ugly ones with the wraparound plastic bits no less), so no harm done. Not wearing glasses is a very, very real risk to a glassworkers vision, and shame on the company for showing it! Care to name them? I'll email them too.

Gawd, I bet it stings like a mother! I had a nostril injury once, and it was sucky. AND I looked mighty funny sticking salve up my nose four times a day! Keep it coated, it'll heal in no time (the only advantage to mucous membrane injuries).
