Better lae than missing

Sorry for getting these up so late... my mostly-blind, not-totally-brilliant but very much beloved 3-year-old dog Nikko made a disappearance from the back yard sometime between 2 and 3 this afternoon, and I've been making phone calls and scouring the neighborhood, plastering it with posters, ever since. When Moxley came home he joined the search, and one by one, most of my friends made their way over to help. At one point, we had nine people combing the streets, handing out flyers and calling for Nikko.

Breezy and her husband Loric found him by being on their front porch, two blocks away, when their slightly... um... "eccentric" next-door neighbor walked by with Nikko on the end of a leash. Just strolling along, la la la.

Maybe the neighbor was going to walk around the neighborhood and ask if anyone recognized the dog. Maybe he'd had Nikko inside for a few hours while he called around to local animal shelters to report a found dog. Maybe Nikko's ID and license tags fell off his collar during his grand escapade. Or maybe not. Either way, the neighbor didn't object (or explain) when Breezy confiscated Nikko.

We have him back, safe and sound. And now I'm going to list beads!

Thanks for looking! (Anyone want to come over tomorrow and help me take down a bajillion "Lost dog" posters?)

OMG, Kalera! Stargazer!!! Did you reach up into the sky and somehow pull some down into the beads?? HOW I wish for some discretionary income right now! Those are beautiful! And your Water's Dance Boro! Boy, these speak to me!

On the other note, I'm so glad you got Nikko home safe and sound!

Glad that your dog got home safe and sound!

Also, love the beads. Looooove them. I managed to grab the rainforest frond bead, even though I told myself I wouldn't buy any new beads until after the upcoming Bead Mercantile show. But I figured that hey, since they probably won't have many lampwork beads there, I was allowed to sneak one in.

Your S/E neighbor obviously does not realize what the penalty for dognapping is in Portland, otherwise he would not have attempted such a dire deed!! I am happy to hear that Breezy had her eyes open and you have Nikko safe and sound. I don't know what I would do if my little dog disappeared!!

Oh, Kalera! Gorgeous, yummy, lickable beads as always! And I'm so glad Breezy was able to bring Nikko home. That just made the hairs on my arms stand up to think of how close he came to being gone! The neighbor was probably out buying a leash while you were scouring the area putting up posters.

Ooooh thank you! I love that bead. Or is it a pendant? Either way, I love it! I hope you do too. I have a similar one that I've been wearing around since I made it.

Thank you, David! At least now I know where to look for Nikko next time he comes up missing...

Oh my gosh, I was! A blind dog on the loose during rush hour is NO GOOD! At one point I was crying in the grocery store when I went to hang up the flyer there... I had to go hide in the vitamin aisle for a few minutes.

Thanks, Dawn! The neighbor is CREEPY. I'm thinking I should go thank him for finding my dog, and let him know that his house is the first place I'll look if he ever goes missing again...
