can you use crimp beads on silk cord?

Why not? If the cord fits thru, I don't see why you couldn't.

sure you can. there are even crimp ends make specifically for cord and ribbon that are sized to the diameter of the cord/leather/ribbon.

i am concerned about slippage and also the metal cuttting the cord... any thoughts?

I wouldn't. It'd cut right through it, and soon. ~~ Sooz

I really just don't like the look of crimps, so I'd much rather tie the silk.

Knotting and french wire to cover the last little bit of silk that connects to the clasp. French wire (aka gimp or bullion) is a real pain to work with, but looks lovely when it's done right.

Yes. Clamshells with a knot inside will also work. ~~ Sooz

the french wire sounds too hard, so i think i'll stick to the clamshells. glad to hear that is an acceptable method. thanks!
