Floodiing in Pennsylvania

We are experiencing wide spread flooding here in Pennsylvania. My brother's first floor is under water, but thank God he is safe. The Susquehanna river is going to be about 6 feet above flood level. This is going to be a terrible problem for those who live in the Harrisburg area. Ivan the terrible has be just that. Roxan

Western PA is a mess! I will never complain about living on a hill again! The Coast Guard was out last night in boats on streets about 2 miles from here, rescuing stranded people. This is just from the storm drains and creeks, now we are waiting for the 3 rivers to crest. Downtown Pittsburgh is being flooded a bit.

I feel so sorry for anyone stuck in this, so much destruction. Believe it or not, they are playing a Pitt game at the stadium, the river is high enough to dock the Riverboats carrying spectators next to the stadium.

I'm up on a hill. No loss of power, nothing. If *I* get flooded out, Kathy N-V would have a wet basement!

I'm glad to hear your brother is safe. In the end, that's all that really matters.

HEAVENS!!! Where in the Hbg area are they? We had rain here - and a good drenching at that - but I don't think we had anything close to that down here. At least not that I've heard of yet.

My Mom called me this morning (she's in Susquehanna Twp., well away from the river thankfully). Her basement is dry, the roof is fine, she lost a few aged tree branches in the driveway and that's it. I'm so relieved! We all weathered through Hurricane Agnes in '72, when we lived much closer to the river, but still thankfully on higher ground. We were surrounded by rivers and creeks and pretty much stranded back then. (And I remember hearing motorboats at night, so weird!) But a 6' flood stage is still nothing to laugh at. My thoughts are with everyone in lower areas.

I'll be good and not rant about builders building in known flood areas. Grrrrr 'Nuff said.

I ran down to WalMart (sorry WM boycotters) earlier. No signs of any trees down up here, no signs of a storm blowing thru yet I heard it pour last night. East York seems to have escaped the storm.

Yikes! Stoney Creek is always a mess, even if it only rains hard. My thoughts are with him and his family during the cleanup process.

Glad to hear your relatives escaped to safety, Roxan. My BIL lives on the west coast in Florida and we haven't heard from him since Ivan passed, although he's real bad about calling. I'll have to try him tomorrow.

Jeanne is on the east coast and kindly wandering out to the mid-Atlantic

Javier is blowing up the west coast, way down on the Baja peninsula at the moment, but already sending us some wonderful rain. It poured here earlier, and it's supposed to rain off and on all day tomorrow. Wahoo!!!!!

oh my gosh! That's one they will tell the grandkids some day!

What a mess -- Our area was just "missed" - we got a short rain late Thursday night as ONE band passed over us - but then it moved on east - and flooded eastern Ohio... I guess we were really lucky.....
