Floodiing in Pennsylvania

Yikes!! I've seen some pics of Asheville - not good. And I've heard they've been boiling water since Frances came through the previous week. Apparently a pipe ay the water works broke and the water supply has been contaminated. Also 3 rivers have been contaminated by car oil, hydraulic oil, and some other stuff. And part of I-40 is now closed and will be for about 6 months the DOTS think.

Glad your bother and family got out safe. Sorry that they are having to go through this.

never mind - ignore the previous post. after seeing the pictures on CNN this morning of Pennsylvania and North Carolina, i'll take whatever California decides to hand out.

We normally get our rain in the summer but it has been so dry. This rain from Javier is wonderful!!

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about all those with flooding problems. Here I was complaining about the leak in the roof, but that's not really anything new anyway! I'm fairly close to Harrisburg, but did fine. We have a pump that sits in the drain at the bottom of the basement ramp, and as long as we turn it on periodically, the basement doesn't get flooded.

I'm so glad my son is old enough to help out with these things! I was up working in my studio all night, but he was in the house, and remembered to run the pump often. He also kept emptying the pan that the ceiling drips into.

It didn't seem bad here, but my husband said there were branches down all over the place in Mechanicsburg when he ran to the post office for me on Saturday morning.

Didn't make it up to San Diego... and they say the border is soooo permeable.... It figures that the stuff we needs gets turned back.

My poor Aunt, whose hsband died just a month ago, was trying to keep up with the flooded basement in Harrisburg. She lives nearer to Hershey, but Hershey Park ad to be closed due to its flooding and the storm in general.

My cousin who lives in York..no probs.
