Thank you Kathy! A life size doll of all polymer would be a huge project all right...I want to do some that have masks though, more like a faceplate that I can sew into place on the fabric head. I'm having fun sewing again after having left my sewing machine all alone and unused for a long while! Sarajane

I can remember using my great aunt Grace's treadle Singer. (Under supervision ... I was less than 5 at the time, and had to stand up to reach the treadle ... since my legs were too short to reach from a chair.)

I have never actually USED most of my machine attachments like the ruffler and the baisbindingfolding foot. I tend to do pintucks now with a double or triple needle....ever look at the notions and feet and accessories at

Funny, I loved the Rube Goldberg mechanics of the thing, much as I loved the old Heidelberg press where all the gears and belts it ran on were visible.

But I can't sew three dimensionally to save my life. Something just gets lost in the translation. I can do surface decoration until the cows come home, just not 'fitting'.

So far, there is nothing I want to make for myself that would warrant the effort of making it twice. But theatrical costuming sounds like a blast. When the right costume goes so far in creating a character, it

-would- be worth the effort.

the other consideration is that with some costumes, you are using $75-$150 a yard fabrics....and I have enough anxiety without cutting into something like that without knowing for SURE its gonna fit via the 75 cent muslin version! Sarajane

Heck, even the cheap muslin paralyses me... cuz I know what a mess I make, even of straight seams, let alone things with 'ease'.

Who called it 'ease', I'd like to know, when it is so difficult?
