Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... Thanks, ladies! You make me feel very warm and hugged. I haven't been around much lately. (2251 posts?! Oh my gosh!) I confess I've been reading everything I can in all my spare moments trying to learn all about the properties of glass so that when my stuff gets here I'll have some advance knowledge.
I had a great birthday. My oldest son called me from NY at 8:30 this morning, and it just kept getting better. I got to do exactly what I wanted to do (in between the technical writing computer time drudgery), which was working on painting the garage where I will be setting up my torch (can't really say studio yet). Isn't perspective an amazing thing? When I am standing on the floor looking at someone on a ladder, it doesn't look very high. When I am up on the ladder? Forget about it! I'll paint the 4 inches of (10 foot high) ceiling that are right at arm's length, but to do the next
4 inches, I have to get down and move the ladder. It's very disconcerting up there! So needless to say, progress has been a bit slow. But I turned up Eva Cassidy and sang along and had the best time! We saved an old door that is going to be the perfect workbench. The garage has two front windowsa that let in an incredible amount of light. It's a great room. Hasn't been a garage in 20 years since the original owners built in the doorway, sectioned off one piece and took away more than half of it to extend the living room. It's been laundry room, mud room, catch-all room. I will have about a 5' x 8' space. Just perfect. My DH is the love of my life and even though I have all the lampworking equipment coming as my gift from him, he brought home a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! My favorite. My daughter made barbecued chicken in the oven, and gave me an earring kit she made from beads and silver decorated headpins (wonder where she got those creative genes?) my youngest son came over with a lovely bottle of wine for dinner, my stepson made me a card with a promise of the War cd (The Cisco Kid He Was A Friend Of Mine - remember that?) Great day. Now this remembrance from you. Thank you very much. I hope I'll be able to catch up on what's been going on!
