You guys are too much! I had an awesome (well, awesome relative to my baseline anyway) birthday. All of my children and 2 siblings called. The day started off with a bang: it was the grand opening of a friend's gallery in the next town over, and she called at 10:30 AM to say that the first sale was a pair of my earrings. I spent the day preparing for the craft fair where I spent from 7:00 this AM until 6:30 this evening, on my feet, and I think I did OK--I'll know for sure late tonight when I'm done doing the books. I Know I didn't get a chance to sit down until I got into the car to drive home. (Fortunately, when I'm selliing I remember to stand up straight, and my back doesn't hurt at all. You can believe I'm grateful for that.)
Everybody, thank you for your good wishes, and have a great day tomorrow!

Well, I wouldn't describe it as "raking it in" (it was a very mixed crowd, and while I sold a bunch of earrings at $25-35, there were lookers who thought $25 was way too much to pay for jewelry (!)) but I did better than last year. I was in a good mood because pieces I really like got a lot of positive attention.
That bothers me. Fine if someone thinks it's too much to pay... far be it for me to decide what people can and cannot afford, but to complain out loud? Right in front of the artist? Those, and the ones that say, "Oh please, *I* could make *that*!" I just think it's rude.
Well, if you're used to buying your jewelry at Wal-Mart and/or blue goose fairs, then of course $25 is too much. What level of event is this? Are there some high-end jewelers exhibiting?
Even at events where I know I'm mostly going to be selling my cheap silver, I always put out a few of the real eye-catcher expensive necklaces. They bring people over to the table, and anything which does that may get you a sale!
Or as you stated in your other post; "you could always go K-Mart".
I think jewelry designers have to come up with something other than "hand-crafted" because a lot of people equate that word with "bargain" and "inferior". I know, I know...same old song.
Well I know that I've "thought" that at craft fairs (and not just for jewelry) but I don't think I ever said it outloud (I hope!). And I've turned saying into doing- now to get that website up and going!!
