Hiding... From all the negativity!

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Kathy N-V :

]The front couple of pages of "Those Bad, Bad, Beads" by Victoria Blakelock ](sp) has the best descriptions of all the differences in seed beads that you ]could imagine. It's pretty entertaining as well, as her personality comes ]right out in her writing.

okay - thanks. more books. but i can't take copyrighted material, either. maybe i'll just leave well enough alone on that page. **grin** thanks, Kathy!

]By far, the best quality seed beads are made by the Japanese company Miyuki ](the same company that makes Delicas). They are extremely uniform and require ]next to no culling. They cost more, and are definitely worth it. When I want ]to use seed beads with a bit more "character," I switch to Czech seed beads.

so - i can quote you and put it on that page? maybe that's why i always seem to end up with Czech beads . . .

I was going to post this as its own thread, but I decided to tack it onto this one. I belong to a professional association that meets monthly. Typically, we raffle off a small item each month as an incentive to get people to participate in the meetings. I decided I would offer to donate a bracelet to raffle off at our holiday luncheon in December, so I brought three samples to our meeting this afternoon to show the chapter president and find out if she was interested. She started ooh'ing and ah'ing over one of the bracelets, grabbed it, put it right on her wrist and asked me "How much?" I told her and she whipped out her checkbook. Oh yeah, and asked if there were earrings to match. So, today I sold my first piece of jewelry to someone other than my mom. I'm also about THIS close to unveiling my new website. Life is good.

Hoo boy, I'd wrestle you to the ground over that one... I really prefer Toho beads. Equal in quality, but a very slightly different shape than Miyuki seed beads. Don't know too much about Matsuno, but I'd bet that they're on par with the other two. Japanese manufacturing is amazingly exact.

Hooray!!!!!!!! I'm very happy for you! Its such a good feeling when someone likes the work so well they actually buy it. Compliments are lovely, but a buyer with purpose (and money!) is even better! Sarajane

Nicole, It has been my experience that we have these little flare ups about every 2 months. It's painful; like family strife. Just ignore it and it will blow over. They have a saying in AA which is "take what you need and leave the rest". That is exactly what I am suggesting here. No reason to even read about other people's disagreements. I used to try and play peacemaker and fianlly decided to just stay out of it. It's really none of my business. I jusr ended up getting all upset about things that were not in my control.

I hope this helps.
