I'm so excited

I'm melting glass faster and hotter than ever. I finally got off my duff and purchased everything I needed from Home Depot to hook my two concentrators together. This evening I went out to the garage and brought in the second oxycon, hooked everything up, and now I'm rocking! Yeah!

Come on...you know the words...

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it....

YAY!! I took a nap this afternoon (no sleep last night) and when I woke up my headache was gone! So I'm looking forward to melting stuff tomorrow!

Oh Starlia, I'm so glad you did! Isn't the difference in heat just incredible? It's about as hot as I ever ran my torch on tanked, and it makes boro a piece o cake! Speaking of boro, do you know how to make canes? I can try to explain it, if not. It makes the boro really do its boro thing, if you know what I mean!

Do you mean regular cane like we make with soft glass? If so, then yes. If not, I would like to know.

It's a very similar technique, yet used very differently. You start with a clear core and layer colors on top: for instance, Orange and Amber Purple... then pull out into a heavily twisted 6mm cane. Lay down a footprint using this cane, then encase thickly. You get the classic wispy boro look.

A word of warning; boro chemistry will not behave in a predictable way, so you cannot layer pink and blue to get lavender, nor will very many similarly logical combinations work as planned. However, that should be considered an open invitation to experiment freely, and take notes!
