illusion necklaces

so you knot it on each side of the bead? Is the knot big enough to keep the bead there? And it drapes well knotted?

Yes, you knot the thread or crimp it. Pearls usually have small holes so size 0 would work with knotting and holding the pearl in place, not sure about the crystals though. There's always clear/transparent seed beads (even the AB kind would look good!) though you've said you're not too keen on using the three bead technique. I've used size 3 and

4 many times and achieved that float and a very nice drape. I haven't used size 0 yet, that's why I said to report back. lol

Heck if you lived near me I'd say lets run to the LBS and try it!

Ha! That's how we all learn. :=)

Yeah -- buy it to match her skin color! It will be prettier than the illusion stuff. And the cord will vanish. ~~ Sooz

I usually use a blue green color to match skin, like veins, or else a light amber color. Pink or tan usually look close, but the very close-ness looks "off". Too pink or reddish looks like a scratch. Purple has a bruised look too it.

I use pale turq, or pale sea green, usually.

Thanks Margie - will have to give it a try - I'm not loving the crimps with the illusion cord - not for this wedding style anyway.

Oh well, and I thought I had everything I needed. Once again I need more beads and stuff -it's always the way... too bad we don't live closere - it would be fun to go to the LBS with you :)

Thanks for the great hints Tina... I'm thinking I'm back at square one not knowing what the heck I'm going to do now.

Then don't use them, try the knotting. If you have enough time try different sizes thread? Griffin comes in nylon (fewer color choices) which is more forgiving and easier to work with than the silk (more color choices!) which is a more polished or elegant look.

And you! I really admire your jewelry and sense of style. :=)

Very good, I'm taking note of this Tina.

Where do you get your cord? I've not seen these colors around here, not yet.

Try it both ways?

yes, I will... but now I have to figure out what color and silk thread to use... will try to get to LBS tomorrow to see up close and personal. I went to the site you recommended and added a bunch to the cart... and then closed the window. I keep doing that. What a waste of time, hu? I guess I just need to see it first.

No shit. After spending more money than I want to think about at Intergem, now I have to go bead shopping again because I don't have any *small* (well, smaller than 16mm) beads in "pineapple quartz", and I have a design working which needs just that.

I swear I could buy a bead store worth of goods and still manage to design something that requires a quick to the LBS. Of course this is not a hardship to me but it is to my dh's wallet.
