Hello, everyone! My name is April. I've been lurking in this group for a while to get a feel for it, and I've really enjoyed "listening" to all of you. I've been doing beadwork off and on for nearly 10 years now, mostly stringing and wire wrapping, but also a small bit of peyote. I have to say that I've been so inspired by the work in this group, that I've taken it up again.
I'm enjoying it sooo much! My husband has his hobbies...rc cars, salt-water reef aquariums, and guitar. I needed something to occupy ME while he's busy with his stuff. I took up cross stitch, sewing, quilting, etc, but I keep coming back to the beads. It's so much fun to invest your time in something you can wear every day...more often than not eliciting compliments and questions about where they can get one of those.
My ultimate goal is to learn to make lampwork beads. I used to work in a museum, and we had a "fair" every year in which local craftspeople were invited to show how they do their work. I met a man who was doing lampwork and was entranced by the beautiful things he was making with fire and glass...how beautiful! Until then, I'll have to be content with building my stash of beautiful glass, crystal and gemstone beads.
Anyway, I thought I'd introduce myself and hopefully be able to contribute something to the group. So......Hello! :)
April H.
BTW, I've got the Bead Lovers catalog from Beadbox, their beads are GORGEOUS, but outrageously priced. Is there any kind of catalog that has all the beautiful beads for less than that? (besides FMG)
