Just Saying Hey!

It's been a long summer. My brother and I had to deal with my mom's weakening mental processes and were finally faced with helping her enter an assisted living facility. She's got non-Alzheimer's dementia. It's very interesting when your highly intelligent mom calls and announces that she's getting married in the morning to the now-deceased Catholic priest who baptized you in 1950. When I asked her how that was possible, since priests couldn't marry (as if that was the only problem...), she said that the rules had been changed for priests over 80. And since this priest would be somewhere near 120, I guess he's eligible.Of course, this was just one in a long string of strange conversations. Meds and a stable environment have helped a lot and I think that she's actually having fun in her new home.

On a happier note, I also have had each of my grandsons over to play for at least a week! And that was just plain fun. Another happy note: the house is well on its way....I'll be able to have overnight guests shortly! (Becky, Carol, when you coming?)

So, what's been happening over here? Everyone OK? All the new babies get here? Someone update me on the babies, please...that's the best part!

Glad life is working right again. Especially glad that though Mom is "off" she is happy. That's more important.

Thank you, ma'am.....and she is happy. She's a former social worker and she's been organizing things...she helped organize a mini-senior Olympics....she couldn't have handled it at home, because life was so stressful. It's nice to see that part of my mom back. How are you? Alaska still beautiful? P&E

Yup, Beautiful and cold. But the fire keeps us cozy, as do hugs.

If you get too cold, I have a place you can bunk....after the first of the year, anyway...

Gee, Holy StepFather!

Glad things are working out for you and your mom too, if a wee bit farfetched.... Sarajane

Hey Laurie,

Sorry to hear about your Mom's problems. Glad that she is doing better and is happy (even if she can't marry her priest!).

Continued good luck with the house.

Thanks, Laurie. Wouldn't that be fun!

Tina
