)T - Jamie Vibes

Nov 01, 2003 19 Replies

Jamie just called.

She is scheduled to have surgery on Monday at Madigan Army Hospital at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. She will be hospitalized for three days and then on bed-rest in the barracks for ten days. After that, she will be on medical leave for thirty days. Then, she will start very limited, light duty for nine months, during which time she will receive physical therapy. Then she should be ready to return to regular, active duty.

PLEASE.......all possible "vibes, prayers, thoughts" for my baby on Monday and the days following.

She keeps telling me not to drive up there, but i may arrive anyway and try to find my way to her. If I "disappear" know that I need and appreciate your thoughts!

i did too. according to Jamie, she likes this surgeon. the reservists that have been causing all the problems are gone, and the "real" doctors are back. i'm worried, naturally.

(((((((hugs))))))) and healing vibes for Jamie!!

just a bit more info.

i am leaving at "o-dark-30" on Monday morning to drive to Bremerton. [my sister is making the trip at the same time, which is the reason i'm not going on Sunday]

Since she doesn't have a room mate, Jamie has managed to convince the Navy to let me stay with her in her room in the barracks to care for her when she is first out of the hospital. [which relieves MY mind considerably]

unfortunately, i will have no access to e-mail or the web while i am gone [anywhere from a week to two weeks]. i'm hoping to JUST make it back in time for BABE. with any luck, i'll be bringing Jamie with me to recuperate at her grandmother's at the same time. i know Johnny is really looking forward to attending BABE with me on Sunday - his exam should be over by noon or 1:00 and he is looking forward to meeting me there.

thanks, everyone.

It's so much harder to have a sick kid than to be sick yourself. From my own point of view, the surgery wasn't fun, and the timeline that you've spelled out seems reasonable. For someone in decent shape, she should be able to manage the recovery period without any huge problems.

I'm glad that you get to be with her. Bring beads. Make bracelets and friends. Give your baby a gentle kiss on the noggin for me.

I'll be thinking about her. Vicki, if you need some relief or a hot meal, or just some company, please let me know...I'm only ten minutes from there. I can even get you on base and into the hospital email me off group to get my phone number if you want it.
