Just when I'm in the groove

Just when I was in the groove tonight I did a very stupid thing. I was reaching for some twisty that fell off my graphite platform and the palm of my hand hit white hot glass that just came out of the flame. Yeeouch! I'm surprise that DH didn't wake up from all the bad words flying out of the kitchen.

Since I feel like crap anyhow I guess I'll go to bed now.

Oh my goodness! You poor thing! Get yourself some lavender oil. I've heard it works wonders. Gotta get some of that myself.

I have burn cream the doctor wrote a script for. It helps a lot along with aloe.

I don't know about anyone else but burns are pretty normal in lampworking. This one was worse than others but it was totally my fault for not paying attention to where I was reaching. Even though it was a bad burn it wasn't bad enough for pain meds. I did try to make a bead after the burn and curling my hand to hold the mandrel hurt so I stopped.

After sleeping really well with bandage smothered in burn cream it's a lot better. You can still see the blister but it doesn't hurt half as bad as it did last night. No harm no fowl. I'll be working again today.

OW!!! I zinged my index finger and thumb a few weeks ago, trying to move a mandrel in the kiln (yes, Major DUH moment). For once I actually managed to leave the blisters alone til they peeled off on their own. Yuck!

OW Starlia! I'm glad it's better today. I think I will stick with polyclay and cutting my fingers on blades...

Sweetheart! Ouch! Crud. :( Put some Silvadene on it and keep it bandaged, Ok? It will heal faster if it's moist and left alone.

I did and that's what I use. I'm back to torching again tonight using your wonderful System 96 glass. It's so sensual....sighs. I'm loving it paired with iris gold and now Raku frit.

Those Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister are incredible for healing blisters from burns. They seal the burn, keep it moist and greatly relieve the pain.

Gee I wish I could. I'm allergic to tape including band aides. I found out when I broke my leg. My back was torn up from being dragged by the horse a little and they bandaged it. When they took the tape off my skin went with it.

Especially band aids. They give me a worse wound than the one I was trying to protect. Dry wounds heal faster but leave much more scar tissue.

ahhh - must be a hidden relative to my family ---- same happens to all of us...

though I CAN get away with a "band-aid" brand for a day on a finger or something... but can't leave them on long...

Yeah... that was about when I realized that T-shirts are ideal for lampworking because of the high collar.>

yep - that is what I usually wear -- but I was being bad - wearing flannel jammies (which also do not burn) - and they have a button front with a V Neck.... stupid me.... right down the cleavage.... ouch...
