It really sucks doesn't it? I can't have them on a full day but a few hours is okay. However, I cannot have regular tape placed on me when I get blood drawn.

Kaiser (here at least) uses that "stick to itself only" wrap for blood draw wounds. Can't remember the name right now... but you can get it as a vet supply item, and some pharmacies have it on the shelf next to the regular bandaging supplies. 3M makes it.

The "paper tape" also works better for some people-- doesn't rip hair out like regular adhesive tape. Kaytee "Simplexities" on
