Successful RCTQ Meet-up in Michigan!

A few tired feet later... Meeting at the American Sewing Expo in Novi was a success. I think we left a few vendors smiling as well!

Gen (from Ohio), Jeanne (from New Zealand), Denny (from Indiana), Crystal (from Ohio) and me (from Michigan) all managed to find each other and enjoy each others company. We enjoyed lunch together and were treated to a little show-and-tell from Gen -- who brought an unbelievably beautiful project that is under way. From a class she took at the Viking store here in Ann Arbor

-- this is an appliqué project that utilizes not her embroidery machine -- but the variety of stitches on her regular machine. Done in beautiful purples and greens -- with metallic gold accent "embroidery" (done by sequencing regular fancy stitches). We were all just plain gobsmacked!

I also had the pleasure of sharing my family with Gen & Jeanne last night. They met my crazy puppy as my DH and DS#3!!!

Anyhow -- too late tonight -- but tomorrow morning I will post a few pictures on my webshots group of the 5 of us -- and one picture of Gen with her project. (intended to do it tonight -- but fell asleep in my chair -- which I almost NEVER do -- guess shopping all day really wore me out! I need to practice more!

Anyhow... another SUCCESSFUL meet-up!

Kate,

It was so nice to meet you guys and put faces with the names. Enjoyed a great lunch. Next time anyone gets a chance to go to a meet up, take advantage of the opportunity, we are really all nice :)

Words can't describe how pretty Gen's wip looked!!!!! Looks embroidered in glittery gold, but just regular fancy stitches. That's one finished product I will travel to see!

Howdy!

Gorgeous project from Gen. Whew!

Of course, you're no slouch in the quilt dept, either, Denny. And you're taller than I imagined.

Cheers!

Your work isn't half bad either Denny, DD was raving about the frog purse you made ( I told her it was taken) and those book bags look like the perfect thing I have been looking for.

Piggybacking here, since I didn't see the link anywhere before this. Gen, I gasped when I saw your WIP! It's exquisite! I'm really anxious to see the finished top -- and I'm in awe of what you've done. :)
