]What's funny is that I've always had a strong creative streak -- but until now, ]it has always manifested in words or music. I can write poetry (and a little ]prose, mostly fanfic); I can filk, I can sing well enough for my own enjoyment ]and that of my friends. But I never had any pull toward the visual arts at all ]until this happened. So it's really new and different for me!
ditto to the creative streak - but the only thing musical i've ever done is to learn to play the guitar. most concerts are ruined for me, because i have an uncanny ability to pick out the one instrument out of tune with the others, and that's all i will hear. but how to get it right? no way - i even have trouble tuning my own guitar! i started writing some children's books at one time - i think they're still in a file somewhere [mainly because publishers want to pick their own person to do illustrations, and i already knew who i wanted to do the illustrations.]
but my grandmother started me out at an early age with handcrafts. first embroidery, then sewing, then quilting and tatting and crocheting. from there, i picked up cross-stitch and needlepoint. and then one day i saw cross-stitch done with seed beads added . . .
when i took a job about 10 years ago, one of the other employees made jewelry. she always wore it for a couple of weeks, and then put it up for sale in her office. from then on, i was hooked. but i didn't find out about lampwork until i came here . . . and Tink and Lynda and Nicole are to blame for everything else. now, i'm just learning as fast as i can . . . both in school, here, and at the rock club. i still love using "stones and minerals" in my jewelry, but there's just something about glass . . .
