National Geographic: Not OT

Does anyone have the issue of National Geographic (Sept. 2003?) which includes an article entitled "21st Century Slaves"? I believe there is mention of beadmakers in India, and I would like to know what it says.

Thanks!

All I saw was the statement the slavery involving bead makers exists. I am guessing that these would not be beads available for us to buy. The slaves are forced labour and not necessarily skilled labour. They didn't say enough about it to suggest that Americans should not buy beads from India.

When I saw the picture of the beautiful young woman in India who now has aids and still is a brothel slave, I wanted to jump the next plane over there and find a way to bring her home with me. How can we spend so much money on bombs and ignore crimes of this magnitude? Barbara Dream Master
