Galleries in France

I'm going on holiday to the South of France (Pau and the Pyrenees) in the next few weeks and would like to visit woodturning on display there. Does anyone know of any galleries in that area which have woodturning on display?

Thanks!

JYC Gallerie in Paris is the only one I've found in France

Freddy, You may want to contact Jean-Francois Escoulan. He's an internationally known turner and instructor from France. He has a studio there and he teaches students who stay in his studio while they go thru his class. I know he has a lot of unusual pieces that he carries with him when he is in the States, and he may have a retail outlet at his studio. I'm not sure exactly where in France his studio is, but someone may be able to give you more info on that. If you haven't seen state of the art eccentric turnings, his work is definitely worth seeing. Good luck,

Hi Freddy,

JF Esoulen's shop is maybe too far from Pau and the Pyrenees (more than 600km away). If you plan to go a little bit further towards east (near Nimes), you can visit Alain Mailland

Probably the best french turner. But it is still 500km away from Pau. I know Craft supply UK has recently started turning courses in the Pyrenees . maybe you can ask them if they know any gallery or turner around. As far as I know, there are only 2 big galleries around woodturning in France. JYC in Paris, and "Verre et Bois" ("glass and wood") in Lyon. I fear both are too far for you. I have a book at home which features french turners. I'll see this evening if I can find one worth visiting in your vacation area. don't hesitate to contact me if you need further details,
