Need Wholesaler Recommendation where to get supplies

I don't now if you can help me. I know this is for beads, but I am betting one of you will know. I am trying to make a velvet ribbon choker. I am trying to find the clasps that go on the end. All that I have seen use the "bar" looking clasp and then a little chain and clasp. I cannot find these items. Where is the best place to find something like this? Thank you.

Okay, so I get the clamp end. I put one on each side and in between I put a lobster clasp on one end and a chain on the other.

How do you get the clasp and the chain onto the eyehole of the clamp?

Is that the same thing as a jump ring?

Do you qualify as a wholesaler? A "real" wholesaler requires a resale license and often a tax ID number. Many other suppliers sell "wholesale" in large quantities or dollar amounts. Many eBay sellers also sell close to wholesale. I would suggest you get some catalogues. It'll give you a better idea of what's out there and at what price.

I don't buy much from Fire Mountain, but they have a wide ranging catalogue. I usually use the Rio Grande catalogue.

Sooz's Bead Notes is what you need for the list of suppliers, so you can research for what you want.

Nope. A jump ring is a metal circle with ends that butt together. A split ring looks like a very tiny keyring. It's more secure than a jump ring for this kind of application because it won't pull apart under tension and let your clasp fall off.

no, I am not a wholesaler or a reseller (yet). Initially, I really only want to make one necklace.

In that case you won't be able to buy wholesale by either definition. But there are lots of catalogues that have excellent prices, especially for multiples of things.

Do you make other things too?

This is a great place to learn skills and get good ideas, and find resolutions.

Thank you.

No, actuall, my wife and I were in a department store and looked at the velvet chokers. They were 15''. I looked at them and a few others they had and all were 15''. She needed 15.5. I saw how they were made and thought - I could do that - and probably cheaper. So, I said I would make her one. And then I saw that some people sold ones that they made and here I am, but mostly for the one I said I would make.

After you buy tools and supplies, and pay for shipping on tools and supplies, it will definitely not be cheaper... to make *one*. But if you're going to make many, perhaps as gifts for other women in youir life, it will balance out.

What kind of chain do I get? I found a lot of necklaces in the hobby stores, chains with a clasp; but that is a whole necklace. I just need to buy small lengths of chain - somewhere. I guess it needs to be some kind with loops so the choker can be adjustable (if I make one for more than my wife). Any hints on chain selection here? Links are appreciated. Thank you all again.

This ebay store carries sterling silver chain in bulk - you buy it by the foot. I've purchased from them before - nice chain, well packaged and shipped quickly.
