New Website

I'm just starting a website and aam looking for some feedback. I crochet with wire and incorporate all types of beads from semi-precious stones and pearls to Swarovski Crystals. The site is still under-construction. I need to link my thumbnails to detail views and add items to catigories that are currently blank. Its my first try at a website so let me know what you think.

COOL - the front page sculpture is really intriguing --- but the page with masks and sculptures is not up yet I see. You definitely do need the click to get a closeup of the details - the thumbnails aren't quite clear enough -- but some look really interesting. also -hate to nitpick - but Necklaces 2 - the header column has "discription" instead of Description.... oops!

Other than that - I applaud you for trying to limit the number of images per page --and breaking things into good, clear categories....too many images per page makes for slow loading. Big kudoo for avoiding the all tempting animation, flash and music on the website stuff! Let us know when the sculpture page is up..... I'm curious enough to look again! Pat-- if you are lurking -- did you see this stuff!??!!! Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

Hi Dragonswire,

Looks like you have some beautiful things on your site. I wish I could see your work better though.

Hi There: To echo some of the thoughts, please allow us to click for enlargements.

Please let people know what the wire composition is...brown wire (may I assume it's copper based?) etc.

Gold wire...is it 14K or gold-filled, or gold colored? Ditto the silver.

Wire knitting and crocheting is my absolute favorite kind of wire/beadwork so I adore looking at great stuff.

This looks great..would just love to see more detail.

Your work is lovely, but would be better appreciated with close-up enlargements available. It's great that you didn't waste time with a bunch of animated graphics! One negative - the blue type on black background is nearly impossible to read.

Blue type on black background = design no-no Pics on Necklaces page 1 do not appear. Necklace page 3 link goes to a file on your hard drive, not on the server. Linking small pics to larger, detail oriented ones would be great, as would more information about the materials. Adding paypal shopping cart links so that folks can purchase online would be another good idea.

Your work is gorgeous! Good luck with it.

Also, bracelet and sculpture/masks pages are linked to local files, not server files.

The items on the site, from what I can see, are lovely. Unfortunately, the site loads slowly and sporadically for me, and I have a fast computer with a cable connection. The pics should be bigger - or linked to bigger pics. I was able to click on one pic and get a bigger version, but none of the others worked that way - I imagine this is one thing you're working on. I would personally get rid of the scrolling marquee on the main page - this can be an annoyance to some people. Also, in the personal information section, you are referring to yourself in the third person, which might be confusing to customers who may think that you are a representative of the artist and not the artist herself. Other than that, great job, and beautiful things! I love that sculpture!

I was going to bring that up about the third person thing. I hate that, but I thought it was a pet peeve and part of me just being a crochety old buzzard!
