newbie on fastening clasps

I've mastered my crimp pliers (an expensive feat!), and I still have softflex slip out. I recently restrung a vintage amber necklace for my best friend, and within 10 minutes of wearing it, her DS had pulled it right off. I've been wondering if maybe a different size crimp would work better? I use the 1x2mm. It is frustrating, though; I can get the crimp on, and it looks perfect, and it it squashed as much as it can be squashed, but if I PULL on the tail, I can see the thread just sliding right through.

And you're doing the second step (curling the crimp around itself), right? I use 1 x 2 and 2 x 2 crimp tubes with no problem regardless of the size SoftFlex or SoftTouch I use. I'm sure someone here will be able to solve your dilemma though. The collective knowledge here is astounding!

I just have to say, literally months before I ever decided to make bracelets, I saw these directions and they are *so* clear that by the time I actually HAD crimp pliers, I had no problems using them just following these directions from memory. So thank you!
